Alejandra is a researcher on urban transformations. She has background in architecture, urban planning and natural resource management.
Alejandra graduated from TH Köln, Germany, and the UASLP, San Potosi, Mexico, with a double master's degree in Natural Resources Management and Environmental Sciences. Her master's thesis studied the relationship between flood risk perception and community resilience in a Mexico City neighbourhood, applying the photovoice method for the collection and analysis of photo narratives and local experiences. She has worked as a research assistant at TH Köln on an academic project seeking transformational change, action-orientated learning, and understanding of inner dimensions, as well as tools for systems awareness within the framework of Theory U. She holds a Bachelor of Architecture and has collaborated on several multidisciplinary urban design, landscape and public space projects, including a Public Access Water Retention Complex for the 5th LafargeHolcim International Competition, as well as collaborations with the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) for a maritime city in socio-environmental balance and a master plan for an inclusive, prosperous and resilient city, both in different states of Mexico. She continues to expand her knowledge to better understand cities and societies, and looks forward to taking action in pursuit of a better future.
As a research associate at UNU-EHS, Alejandra´s research focuses on understanding different narrative methods for studying sustainability operationalization in local urban settings.
