Lionel Muñoz Rosas is a Research Associate at the Urban Futures and Sustainability Transformation (FAST) programme. He holds an MSc in Economics and works primarily on Data Analysis, Statistics and the implementation of Machine Learning methods on survey data from the Transformative Urban Coalitions (TUC) project, among others.
Lionel graduated from the University of Bonn with an MSc in Economics in 2023. This degree offers comprehensive and rigorous training in quantitative methods, including Econometrics, Machine Learning and Deep Learning, alongside courses in applied Microeconomics and Microeconometrics. During this time, he was a scholarship holder of the Heinrich Böll Foundation. Further, during his time as a BSc student in Heidelberg, he spent one semester at the Chinese University in Hong Kong, which he complemented with a project visit and audit of the Sri Lanka Scholarship project of Études sans Frontières - Studieren Ohne Grenzen Deutschland e.V. in Sri Lanka.
Prior to joining UNU-EHS as a student assistant in March 2023, Lionel worked as a student assistant at the IZA – Institute of Labor Economics in Bonn. Here, he supported the partner programme with FCDO, G2LM|LIC, with administrative and research duties. Further, he also worked as an intern at the Morocco Employment Lab in Rabat, working on a Labor Market RCT with the Moroccan government. This is a project led by J-PAL and Evidence for Policy Design (EPoD) of the Harvard Kennedy School.
