Ally Mkumbukiy is a Doctoral Researcher in the Joint PhD. Programme in Integrated Management of Water, Soil, and Waste between Technische Universität Dresden and UNU-FLORES.

Ally is working on the “Resilience and Resources Nexus in Food Systems” theme. During his graduate studies, his master’s project focused on determining the extent of the effects of climate variability on smallholder tea production in the East Usambara Mountain Farming System, Tanzania. His undergraduate special research project focused on comparing the growth and grain yield of different varieties of Amaranth available in Tanzania. His primary research interest is exploring various methodologies important for enhancing local community abilities to respond to climate change. Ally has expertise in crop improvement, Agronomy, climate change, farmers’ field schools, and agricultural technology transfer. As a researcher, Ally worked with the Tea research institute of Tanzania under the Ministry of Agriculture and food security in the departments of crop improvement and technology transfer.
