Sampha Sesay is part of the Joint PhD Programme of UNU-FLORES and TU Dresden. 

Sampha Sesay is a forestry professional from Sierra Leone with over five years of experience in forest inventory, planning, and sustainable forest management. He earned his BSc in Forestry from Njala University and an MSc in Tropical Forestry from Technische Universität Dresden, supported by the prestigious DAAD EPOS scholarship. As Assistant Planning Manager at Miro Forestry and Timber Products, he led comprehensive forest inventory coordination and ensured adherence to silvicultural standards. Currently, as a PhD candidate at the United Nations University - Institute for Integrated Management of Material Fluxes and Resources (UNU-FLORES) under the DAAD NEXtra Programme, his research examines the nexus between urban sprawl, landscape fragmentation, and habitat network connectivity using advanced spatial analysis. His work aims to deliver integrated solutions for sustainable land-use planning and biodiversity conservation.
