Yohannes Kinfu is a Principal Visiting Fellow at UNU-IIGH.
Yohannes held academic positions at the Australian National University, Addis Ababa University, Qatar University, and the University of Queensland, among others. Additionally, he conducted consultancy work in several African and Asian countries, taught graduate and undergraduate courses, and supervised PhD students in Ghana, Germany, and South Africa. He also served as a Statistician at the World Health Organization in Switzerland and led the Urbanization and Wellbeing Research Program while managing the Nairobi Urban Demographic and Health Surveillance Site at the African Population and Health Research Centre in Kenya.
His professional identity weaves together statistics, demography, and economics, with a particular passion for harnessing data to measure health outcomes, track demographic trends, and evaluate healthcare systems and economics on a global scale.
He currently serves as a statistical advisor at the Pacific Community (SPC) and as a Statistical and Technical Task Force member at the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD).
