Elena Camilletti is a part-time PhD Fellow at UNU-MERIT and Maastricht University

Elena's research interests are at the intersections of gender, child well-being and social protection and the care economy. In her PhD thesis, she is researching the issue of unpaid care and domestic work among children and adolescents in low- and middle-income countries, its nature, causes and consequences, as well as interventions to address it. She is supervised by Prof. Dr. Wim Groot, Prof. Dr. Franziska Gassman, and Dr. Bruno Martorano. 

Elena worked for several years at UNICEF, first as a Researcher at UNICEF Innocenti - Global Office of Research and Foresight, in Florence, Italy, and then as a Programme Specialist - Gender Equality (Adolescent Girls) at UNICEF Headquarters Gender Equality team. Prior to that, she worked for other UN agencies, NGOs and consulting firms. She holds a Master of Science in Emerging Economies and Inclusive Development from King's College London, and a Bachelor's degree in International relations and diplomatic affairs from the University of Bologna.
