Allen Curry is a professor of Biology, Forestry and Environmental Management at the University of New Brunswick (UNB), Fredericton, Canada.
Allen was the Director of the Canadian Rivers Institute (CRI) from 2004-13 when he stepped down to become the Principal Investigator for the multi-million dollar Mactaquac Aquatic Ecosystem Study (MAES). He is a Fellow of the CRI, the Cloverleaf Foundation Professor of Recreational Fisheries Research, and Assistant Director-New Brunswick Cooperative Fish and Wildlife Research Unit. Dr Curry has over 75 peer-reviewed publications, reports, books, and book chapters in the fields of fish ecology, fisheries, freshwater/estuarine/reef ecology, ecohydrology, environmental flows and forest hydrology. He worked extensively on environmental monitoring for industry and governments including hydroelectric facilities, shale gas, oil sands, pulp and paper, diamond and metal mining, and completed multiple consulting projects assessing water diversions, major hydro-dam and reservoir construction, and metal mining development. Allen’s current work focuses on dam/reservoir renewal; his MAES project is the largest dam renewal project in the world that includes developing comprehensive fish passage solutions for the facility. Dr Curry contributes to UNU-INWEH’s research by addressing aging water storage infrastructure and dam renewal and removal.
