Dr. Mohammed Mahmoud is an expert in water resources management and climate adaptation policy in dry regions, including the Middle East, North Africa, and Western United States.
As the Middle East Climate and Water Policy Lead at UNU-INWEH, his research focuses on water security, transboundary water cooperation, and climate change adaptation, with a particular emphasis on drylands and the Middle East.
Throughout his career, he has held various leadership positions, including CEO and Founder of the Climate and Water Initiative, Founding Director of the Climate and Water Program at the Middle East Institute (MEI), Chair of the Water Utility Climate Alliance, and President of the North American Weather Modification Council. He has been recognized as one of the Climate Penpal's list of Top 100 Middle East Sustainability Voices in 2025.
